Processes and techniques

...In this project the historical pigment silver stain was applied to both sides of each layer of glass and then fired in a large kiln. This mark- making focuses on the broader idea that a colour does not exist as one colour but as a build up, a layering of many colours. Each mark, like amber is frozen. The finished artwork weighs 82 kilos and is over a metre in diameter. The processes were researched and fabricated during 2009/10 at the Australian National University, Canberra and The Canberra Glass Works whilst Carter I was studying for an MA in Visual Arts.
